I mentioned I would post photo’s from the Sony store….. Well,  I didn’t take any!  It was so awesome to meet so many women photographers I was too busy talking rather then taking photos.  Soooo  I borrowed some from MeRa’s site :)   Here is a link to her blog about the event.

Paying it Forward

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I am a team captain for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life this year will be my third year.  The reason I relay if so for my Grandma Edna that lost her battle with Leukemia in 2006 and so many other friends and family members who have been affected by cancer.

This morning I posted on facebook a status update that said:  I am going to the Relay for Life kick off meeting is anyone else going?  Erin whom I met at my MeRa Koh workshop replied with this link and asked that I would share it.   After you read this very touching story you will understand why I am passing it along for all my blog followers to read.  I hope that everyone will take some time and read it.

In the coming months I am working on doing some promotional portrait sessions with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

Let’s help Sharlene claim her title as SURVIVOR.  For more information about Sharlene

Erin thank you so much for sharing your story!

Gratitude

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I entered to win a Photography Scholarship in December put on by MeRa Koh. I didn’t win which I really never thought I would and that is ok. Read more about it here.  If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that MeRa has helped me a ton with getting my business going.

A lot of the ladies that applied up for the Scholarship have formed a group called Soar Sisters not to be confused with Seattle Sista’s.   We have all been chatting, networking, sharing information and most of all being each others cheering section (Melinda I stole that term from you).  When I applied for the scholarship I had no idea the group of ladies I would meet.  In fact I will be meeting at least one of them tonight I am going to listen to MeRa Speak in Seattle.  ANYWAY I de-railed a bit.

The Soar sisters got together and created a gratitude video for MeRa and Brian showing them our gratitude.  MeRa posted it on her blog today I hope you will check it out.  MeRa and Brian do so much in the photography community to inspire and empower women to follow their dreams.  I cannot thank them enough.

Check out the video:

Check back tomorrow I should have photo’s from tonight Listening to MeRa speak at the Sony store….. if they let my Nikon in :)

New Years Eve day I had planned to photograph Erin and her 2 sons Billy and Steven but a huge downpour stopped that.  For the next days following we were carefully watching the weather finally on Sunday there was a break in rain.  These photo’s were taken at Whatcom Falls Park.

Charity said: Your junk drawer! We all have one I just can’t imagine yours being messy.
 Pictures of my Life..... reveal {bellingham photographer}

Funny story… We always dump out our junk drawer with intentions of organizing and cleaning it. So all of the contents of our junk drawer are in a box and a bag from the last 2 times we have thought organizing would be a good idea.
