Weddings, Receptions & Relay for Life {bellingham photographer}

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Sorry for the lack of blog posts lately. As most of you know Chris and I got married in Maui 2 weeks ago…..we are now home planning our reception. We have relatives and friends coming to town from Montana & California. So I have been busy with planning & stuff. Also the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Whatcom County is the week after our reception. So I have a lot going on at the moment. I am $100 away from my PERSONAL goal of raising $1,000 for the Relay. If you would like to help me reach my goal you can make a tax deductible donation here. Any amount helps. You can also purchase Luminaria bags for $5.00 each. Click contact above with any questions.

Relay for Life – What it means to me! {bellingham photographer}

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Once again this year I am a team captain for my relay for life team Edna’s Fan Club. Have you ever experienced The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life? It is something you will NEVER forget. I know I have written about the Relay before and have expressed why I relay for those of you who don’t know I lost my grandma Edna to Leukemia in 2006 after a courageous 5 month battle including a 40 day stay at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle. My grandma fought so hard against this awful disease…… myself along with my family all formed this team so that we never have to watch someone we love go through what my grandma endured.

You may be wondering what is the Relay?????  It is a overnight event where each team member takes turns walking through out the night.  The relay symbolizes the challenge that so many adults and children face 24 hours a day after their diagnosis with cancer.

If you would like to make donation to help me raise money for a cure you can do so here.

Paying it Forward

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I am a team captain for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life this year will be my third year.  The reason I relay if so for my Grandma Edna that lost her battle with Leukemia in 2006 and so many other friends and family members who have been affected by cancer.

This morning I posted on facebook a status update that said:  I am going to the Relay for Life kick off meeting is anyone else going?  Erin whom I met at my MeRa Koh workshop replied with this link and asked that I would share it.   After you read this very touching story you will understand why I am passing it along for all my blog followers to read.  I hope that everyone will take some time and read it.

In the coming months I am working on doing some promotional portrait sessions with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

Let’s help Sharlene claim her title as SURVIVOR.  For more information about Sharlene

Erin thank you so much for sharing your story!

Relay for Life this Weekend

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

The Relay for Life is this weekend.  I am a Team Captain for a team called Edna’s Fan Club.   A little background:  I got involved in the Relay for Life after my Grandma Edna passed away from Leukemia in 2006.  After watching her battle I realized that I NEVER want to watch another person I love go through that again.  So each year myself and sevral friends and family members get together to walk in the Relay for Life.  The Relay is a overnight event where each team member takes turns walking around the track through out the night :

Cancer never sleeps, so neither do we!

Relay For Life was originally conceived as a 24 hour event because cancer patients battle the disease around the clock. When we relay, we go on whether it is day or night, rain or shine… NO MATTER WHAT! Cancer patients don’t get a day off from the disease, so why should we?

There Is No Finish Line Until We Find A Cure!

This weekend at the Relay my team will be selling many items including:  Hand made scarfs, cookies, treats, Live Love Laugh necklaces, and some of my scenery pictures.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

The event is free to attend and if you have never been to a Relay before it is such a great experience.  There are games and fun things for kids to do too including a Bouncy House.  The Relay is Friday July 10th 5:00 pm – Saturday July 11th 2:00 pm.

Come see us and support a great cause!
